Ken Bini

Drawing Instructor

Ken Bini is a painter, presently based out of Lawrence, Kansas. His paintings are process driven and representational, meaningfully redolent of his emotions and intellect. Spanning a thirty-year period, Bini paints with constant change, layering, corrections, and adjustments; compositions and surfaces are unpredictable and unique, his intrigue with the limitations of pigment and their endless expressive potential are boldly apparent. While predominantly an oil painter, over the years he has experimented with acrylics and non-traditional media, like house paint, roofing tar and assemblage; as well as branching into sculpture, site-specific installation, music and film

Bini’s works are included in numerous national and international private collections. His works have been in exhibitions at the University of New Hampshire Museum of Art, the Kansas City Art Institute, and in both solo and group shows in galleries nationally. Bini’s work has been featured in The Kansas City Star, The Lawrence Journal World, The Pitch Weekly, The Riverfront Times and on Artspeak Radio 90.1 KKFI. Currently, he is without gallery representation. He holds a BFA in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute (1993) and a MFA in painting from the University of New Hampshire (2014).
